Director of Sustainability
Christine Riley Miller is Director of Sustainability at Samsonite where she is launching the first-ever global sustainability strategy and program across nine brands. With more than 10 years’ experience mitigating risk and improving footprint from cradle to grave across retail, consumer goods, and food sectors, she is an issues expert in packaging, energy, animal welfare, and sustainable supply chains.
Previously Christine led the sustainability team and the Corporate Foundation for eight years at Dunkin Brands Inc. She served as the Public Affairs contact for the government affairs and legal teams including shaping regulatory policy around packaging, testifying at County level hearings, and advocating with NGO stakeholders such as the Humane Society, CERES, Greenpeace, PETA and WWF. She also has shaped the supply chain agenda, converting products to Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance and achieving a CDP score through a reduced energy footprint.
Prior to Dunkin’ Brands, Christine developed integrated campaigns and strategies for communicating environmental sustainability at Cone Communications. She previously managed the CSR Initiative at the JFK School of Government at Harvard University.
An engaging public speaker, Christine has been selected as a presenter and panelist on deforestation, coffee, and cocoa including at Citi’s Leadership and Ethics, SPECS, and Innovation Forum conferences. In 2012 Christine was named one of 12 White House Champions of Change for her leadership and influence.Christine’s passion for CSR grew from her work developing corporate partnerships for Jumpstart for Young Children more than 15 years ago, after having spent two years as Staff Director for the Massachusetts State Senator. She started her career at AmeriCorps, where she advocated for domestic and sexual violence issues in the New Hampshire District Courts.
Christine has a graduate certificate in Leadership for Change from Boston College and a BS in Sociology from Brigham Young University. She currently resides in Boston and spends her free time training for half marathons and pursuing her love of interior design.
