In June of 2016, the unthinkable happened in Orlando, when 49 people were killed and dozens more injured in what at the time was the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. The citizens of Orlando were shaken by this tragic event but were reassured by the quick response from a variety of local groups. Hear from several key stakeholders about how they worked together to respond in the immediate aftermath and the ongoing efforts to heal the community.

Two Concurrent Plenary Sessions - Tuesday afternoon

Session 1: Coupling Corporate Social and Environmental Strategies: Smashing the Silos of Societal Impact, will be led by Keith Whittingham, Ph.D., a professor at the Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business. Dr. Whittingham’s session will look at corporate societal impact, exploring the interdependencies between social and environmental issues. The session will examine some of the critical issues in environmental sustainability and their connections to pressing social issues today. Additionally, we will see how companies with an integrated view of corporate citizenship and responsibility can achieve deeper levels of societal impact, in a way that can also add economic value.

Session 2: A panel discussion, moderated by Impact ROI CEO Steve Rochlin, entitled Making an Impact and Proving It. Now more than ever companies need to show how their Citizenship efforts not only generate positive impact for communities but are also tied to business strategy and tangibly support financial performance. At this session, leaders from across sectors will share their approach to measuring impact and the results they are seeing. Panelists include: Michael Carren, Head of Strategic Philanthropy for Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, and Brian Komar, Vice President of Global Impact Engagement at Salesforce.
